Very unfortunate. It does make the case though for two man crews for work in places like that.

Yes, a bad situation that was totally unncessaary. The area is not considered a bad area, but his supervisors were unresponsive for his requests for help. AT&T offered a $100,000 reward and the culprit was snitched off immediately.
