I have three phones plugged into extension port one, two phones plugged into digital port two and one phone plugged into ports three and four.

The 7th phone in port four will not operate properly and if it is unplugged the other phones stop ringing.

Phone at that location has been swapped out.

All new phones.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Bracha

That's kind of a weird setup, why don't you have port 1 full and 3 in the second port with no other wiring being used? I've seen them act wierd when not putting them in as recommended.

Maybe you need those end-point devices as recommended.... ?????

I've got three phones on port 1, 2 phones on port 2, 1 phone on port 3 and 1 phone on port 4.

Each port has a separate cable on it, only white blue paid used.

I've used all four ports.

In any event, the owner is having us back on Monday to bring all the cables down from the ceiling where FIOS connected his old three line phones and to mount everything where you can work on it normally with punch blocks and cross connects.

Thanks, Bracha

The end-point devices go on unused, but connected jacks, not the ports on the KSU.

I still don't understand why your using all four ports for only seven phones.I don't understand why your not putting 4 phones on port 1 and the last 3 phones on port 2 and leaving ports 3 and 4 unused along with the spare one on port 2.

Can you enlighten me as to why.

Same question here. I fill one port before moving to the next, but I can't see why you couldn't do as has been done. I'm betting there's wiring hanging on it beyond the point of the phones as Dave said.

In my installs with 4 phones or less, I've actually plugged each phone into its own KSU jack with no problems. Replacing non-ksu phones that used all bridged jacks does indicate the high likelihood of some open wiring or jack(s) somewhere. That, together with the varying phone count on each KSU jack might combine to cause this condition. I also wonder any phone cables might be run over something that is causing induction.

I'd also like to see what our guru Kill Roy might add if he checks in!

Its eaiser to go with exsisting wiring if you can really trust it but I have had a problem with unknown wiring out there that caused some strange problems on the x16. After a stright run for that 1 extention the problems went away for the whole system. Exsisting wiring can be great unless its in an old church with 40 odd jacks all over 2 buildings installed/abandoned as needed over 50 years.

OMG, Verizon was doing fast and lazy work installing dial tones and did not run a station back to home but tied a dial tone to it.

Line one was shorting out extension 307 and vice versa.

Made some money thanks to Verizon's sloppy work. Oy Vey.
