How did you find DIL 1:N?

Why would someone tell you about Delayed Answer Time when the VM is answering on the first ring, or perhaps you imangined it.

Start with the PHONE SYSTEM MANUAL. The VM manual doesn't need to be opened until you get the programming on the phone system right.

Thanks everyone for answering. I succeeded in getting the voicemail system to pick up immediately using DIL 1:1.

Until now we were using IRNA (Intercept Routing – No Answer), which has a minimum of 3 rings, so I used DIL 1:1, which doesn't have any wait time.

Thanks very much everyone, especially Carl for mentioning all the different option to use DIL 1:1, DIL 1:N and IRNA. From that I was able to see what they were set to, and I saw that IRNA was in use (with the help of the manual).

(Trying to set the "delayed answer time" was a mistake I made based on a service representative that I called.)

I'm glad. I could have told you about DIL 1:1, but don't you feel better finding it in the manual? Now you know about DIL 1:N and that 3-12 rings is the absolute delay and 1:1 is immediate :-)

It's a powerful, yet Panasonic, system programming deal.

The manuals are not written very well. The descriptions of the features are not extensive enough and they don't explain how one feature is different from the other.

I write instructions for a living, and I try to do a better job than they do.

Thanks again for your help.
