I would like to install a Norstar 616 phone system with one phone line coming in.
However, is there any way to set up the line so that the one line coming in can be split into 2 line jacks on the 616? Also, can it be set up so that when, let's say, Line 1 is busy, and another call comes in on the phone line, that call would ring on Line 2? Or is the solution to just have two separate phone lines coming in?

Thank you,

Matteo

OK I'll take this one.... 2 separate lines with rollover is your only option if you need the ability to receive more than 1 call simultaneously. Splitting the same line accomplishes nothing. Dukane??

Hi Alvaphonepro -

Thank you so much for that information.

Dukane is a manufacturer of intercom systems for schools/correctional facilities. grin
However, it's now owned by Edwards Fire Safety...

...and those lines must be commercial lines, not residential because your provider won't do "Roll Over" or "Cascade" on residential lines.

Not exactly true, if you can get CF-Busy to another number. My 1B line has that arrangement and I forward it to a VoIP line which rings 2 devices. After the first hop, it clears the 1B line and the next call provides Call Waiting while ringing the other device.

If I weren't so che^h^h^h frugal, I'd arrange it to a 2-line device.

I stand corrected. I forgot about what's called a "Local Link" centrex line for business...

Getting old is a drag....

CF Busy for sure. That's how we used to beat our local telco out of $30.00 per line for rollover. I am familiar with Dukane in that respects. We had it in our schools yearrrrrrs ago.
