George it's not that it's difficult, it's just Inter-Tel. If you're not familiar with the way they do things it can be rather frustrating. You REALLY don't want to just cross your fingers though. Do a back up. You don't have to use a dos machine. You can use a serial cable and use Hyperterminal to back up the system. Also, you'll need to be talking to the system to do a Major Reset. Just powering it down or using the Minor Reset button won't accomplish what you're trying to do.
Also and perhaps most important, once you're connected to the system you can look at the error logs. That in itself may solve your problems.
