I did one bulk mailing and had no success - I am currently cosnidering a contract with a telemarketing firm - about $2,300. I would also be interested in hearing feedback from anyone who has tried these, or any other, marketing tactics.

I'm in a very rural area and have sent out direct mail for over a 100 mile radius and have gone to the Chamber of each town and emailed all Chamber member. Each of which has produced zero revenue.

I think a radio or television spot would bring more results. I too did a telemarketing and mail campaign (years ago), neither produced any results, I also did a radio spot which did produce a small amount of additional prospects (pre internet), you know you can also advertise in the Installers directory, and it's not that expensive. It does get looked at by end users. If you want any additional information shoot me an email, email address in my profile. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

I did a fax blast /mailer for all the R/E agents in my state. also did some mass mailing with a co op with one of the mfg's

Big FAT zero. I wich some one would let me in on the secret [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

I've been thinking of a radio spot also, but it's hard to judge the ROI.,

direct mailings to new businesses worked the best for me. All I did was send a letter and a business card. I also tried direct mailing custom brochures from a general list which produced nothing.
Telemarketers was a total waste of money.

We've done some direct mail with mixed results. We always do it in house to save some money.

We've done postcards. You can get 5000 custom, full color postcards for $200-300 bucks. Just come up with your own mailing list and print some labels.

You have to be consistant with direct mail, as with any advertising. You won't have much success with just one mailing. You have to get your name inside of the prospects head. For example, do you get just one credit card offer from a credit card company?

The best direct mail campaign we ever did was a newsletter. We did these quarterly for a couple of years. Our business increased a lot. However, newsletters do take a lot of time to prepare. Time I no longer have.

One of the cheapest/best targeted advertising is with Google and the other search engines. Google does there own and Overture does Yahoo, MSN and most others.

Make sure you have your name set to come up on the search engines when someone types in: telephone systems yourcity yourstate.

Good luck!

I just recently joined my county chamber, Gateway Chamber of Commerce. They publish a newspaper that is sent out to over 70 thousand homes and businesses....

I took out a 1/8 page contract for 6 months...
the ad costs $187.00 per month....

This was the 1st month it ran, I got 1 phone call....

That call got me a 30 cable installation and a upgrade to a Norstar 824.....totaling $5900.00......

Thats why I like joining chambers......
