I have a user's manual I found on the internet but I cannot find the program button on the phone as described on page 11. Can anyone tell me where it is or suggest an easy way to program phone numbers into this phone?

Thanks!

I can see how this might not be clear.

One way to program Abbreviated Dialing (speed dial) numbers for your extension, is by inputting them directly from your phone. To do that, you must first activate a Program code (often *0, but you'll have to look in the System Parameters Features form to be sure).

If you're constantly rearranging the buttons on your phone, you should assign this code to a button and label it "Program". That's what the manual meant when it said to touch the Program button or dial the AD Program code (followed by a blank line for you to note the code).

Make sense?

This should help. Just as an FYI for future posts, please include the system you are working on and software version. Thanks.

Abbreviated Dialing:

The abbreviated dialing (AD) feature allows you to store selected phone numbers for quick and easy dialing. Each number can be a complete or partial phone number, and extension number, or a trunk or feature access code.

NOTE: You can also be able to program a 1.5 second pause in an AD number such as between an access code and the phone number. (Press the Menu button and then the softkey below Pause.)

NOTE: There is a 10 second time limit between your going off-hook and entering the first digit of an AD button, and then a 10 second time limit between each digit. If you hear intercept tone while you are programming the button, you have exceeded the time limit and you must begin again

To program a number into a personal list:
1. On a separate sheet of paper, write down the outside numbers, extensions, and/or feature access codes you want to store.
Note: Each phone number or feature access code is stored as a separate item.
2. Pick up the handset or press <Spkr>.
3. Press the Menu button and then the softkey below Prog (if available on your display).
or, Press <Program> (if administered).
or, Dial the Program code *0. [dial tone]
4. Dial the Personal List number (1, 2, or 3).
Note: Use only list 1
5. Dial the list item (01, 02, 03...).
Note: each list contains 20 locations, if you need more space, contact...
6. Dial the number you want to store (up to 24 digits).
Note: Be sure to dial 9 if calling outside of our system. You may also be able to use the softkeys to add AD special functions such as Pause.
7. Press #. [confirmation tone]
• The number is stored.
8. If you want to store additional items on the same list, repeat Steps 5 through 7. If you want to store items on another list, hang up and return to Step 1.
9. Hang up to end programming.
To place a call using an AD list:
1. Press <Pers List> or, Dial the appropriate Abbreviated Dialing List code:
List 1 8101
[dial tone]
2. Dial the desired list item (01, 02, 03...).
• The call is automatically dialed.
