Hi guys. I have just started getting into voip and i am knocking up a test system.
Now, i happen to have a few Mitel 5001 and 5205 phones. Do you have to have a specific Mitel controller to run these phones?
I ask this as i already have an Asterix voip server up and running. I have a DHCP server up and running. I have the Mitel phones plugged into my POE switch so they are powered up.
Just wonder aquire an address. I take it i must have a Mitel controller or is there a way round this.
Thanks guys.

Regarding your DHCP server, have you configured the Mitel specific options (128, 129, etc...)?
Then phones need more than just an IP address from DHCP, they also want to find out things like what is the IP of the controller, what is the IP of the TFTP server, what (if any) vlan should they join other than the default, etc...
