We recently added the KX-TD193 called ID module to our KX-TD816 system. It operates properly but makes a loud clicking sound when a call is received. This noise is loud enough to be heard outside of the phone cabinet. Is this normal? Is there a way to eliminate this noise? Thank you.

No, it's not normal and I've never heard of it.
All I can recommend is to send it back and get a new card.
Who installed it?

Thank you MrGemini. I didn't seem normal to me. It was installed by a local company here in MD (listed on Panasonic's site). When I called the office they said as long as it was functioning is was fine. A different installer did the original system install. I guess I will call him back. We were quoted $475.00 to add the module so we went with a lower bid.

It has been in use several weeks now. Do you think it may have done damage to the main board?

Are you sure the unit was quieter before the module was installed??
There are relays in the control unit that make a fair amount of noise whenever a call is ringing into the KSU

al, can you please give us a little info. in your profile? Thanks.
What application is this in. Residential?
I can't see how the CID card can cause any noise as it's all solid state.
It is a PITA to pull it and/or replace it as the system not only has to be shut down but the cabinet "shoe" has to be completely opened.
You can try it yourself but if you call the installer back it's probably going to cost you at least a service call.
Remove the card and power up the unit and see if the noise is there.
