Take away the handset, add 2 eight inch floppy drives on the right end, vertically oriented, and you had the original NEC APC computer. What a monster, used it to program NEC2400's. Insert the floppies, boot , and it sounded like a Model A Ford starting! Clunk, clunk, clunk, pause, clunk, clunk, clunk, pause, several times, and, TADA, you were ready to dial in and make changes. Ran with the OS before DOS, that used all kinds of programs, you just had to have the correct overlay. Anybody remember the name of that OS? Was it CPM? It was finally hit by Thor, thankfully. Some other time I'll tell you about how much fun it was getting the DOS programmer to run on a 486 with a 40 MEGABYTE hard drive. smile John C.
