I have an AVP that stops at the start of the Task Controller screen before any tasks are loaded. Only [Shift][F10] functions and returns me to the command line. Scandisk & defrag made no difference. I assumed some data was corrupted. Unable to find the original install disks, I moved the SPAVP50 directory to preserve it and reinstalled from another set of disks (same version). The AVP should have run in demo mode to test my assumption but it stopped in the same place. I have no error messages and the PC works otherwise to navigate around. I can try replacing the Dialogic board tomorrow but does anyone have any ideas before I trash it?

I suspect that is is an AVP2 correct? I still have one of those running out in the field but when it dies it is dead for good, I have no install disks at all, threw em away years ago. It shouldn't make any difference if you use the original ones or another set. They had no serial number only a dongle, which you need to make sure is still working or it will stop loading. I can't remember if you get an error or it just stops. Seems to me, that it just stops.

I'm pretty sure that I still have several sets of infinite voice software as I still have quite a few of them in service. I think it is identical to the AVP, it just has a different name. Let me know if you want me to track down a set for you.
I'd suspect the dongle too. Perhaps the parallel port needs to be refreshed?

Thanks for the comments and offers but I do have several sets of AVP FP2 disks. My disks all have serial numbers that match with the dongles so I aways thought they were coded together. I tried running up.exe from the utility disk and it updated some registry items and tasks. The task bar now loads and shows VM running, but the voice board immediately busies out the station ports! After the time I have already invested, I have decided that it will be wiser to sell the customer a used analog Dispatch. The customer knows that after 13 years, he will need to look at a new system sooner than later. Thanks for being there!

Although I agree with your decision, although I'm sure that the problem is just an issue with drivers for the Dialogic card. Did I say "just"?
