Howdy Folks,

I'm trying to set up a wireless headset (Plantronics CS55 with lifter) for the receptionist at one of our facilities and I've run into a slight snag. All incoming calls go to TAS which rings on multiple phones and are answered by using the Answer key. The problem is when the answer button on the headset is pressed during an incoming call it grabs dial-tone from the prime line and doesn't actually answer the call (The phone is a Dterm Series III w/16 buttons).

The question I have is: how do I program this extension to automatically answer incoming calls (TAS or otherwise) by just lifting the handset?

The system is an IVS2000 running on a CPO3. I have seven trunks that go to TAS and ring on all multiline terminals as well as an overhead paging system.

Thanks in advance.

There's an option called "Ringing Line Preference." Set that and it should work. For IPS,I think
1582>COS>0
1586>COS>0
would do the trick. Not sure about IVS.

Just a note on this! The feature is quite literal! Ringing being the operative word! It isn't flashing line preference, the key has to be set for an audible ring or it doesn't work!

Roger that. Made the recommended changes but still no luck. Also verified 08 116 and added a headset key to the Dterm (F1090) but that didn't work either.

Any thoughts on using a call pilot group? They are amenable to changing how incoming calls are answered but I don't want to make a bunch of changes if that doesn't solve the problem.

According to the Feature Programming manual for the IPS (don't seem to ahve the IVS manual around) those are the steps:

1207>XXX>COS ;assign COS for extension (XXX=ext. #)
1582>COS>0
1586>COS>0.

Double-check that 1207 shows the ext. COS to be the same as what you assigned. It may not be the same as the COSes assigned in 1202.

Also, note what R4+Z said about the line having to audibly ring. Check
9001>XXX,YY>0

I must admit that I was a little sceptical whether this would would work for a tas appearance. What I would do is set up mode A as an alternate mode where calls ring a hunt group with line appearances so that ringing line preference can work but they then still have a choice of which way it works!

I have a call center that is using cordless headsets on several stations.

I programmed a headset key and a release key.

When you first set up the phone press HEADSET, then RELEASE. The phone will then stay in HEADSET mode and the agent can answer and hang up with the button on the headset.

The only time I have any issues is if the PBX is reset, I have to walk around to all those stations and push HEADSET/RELEASE again.

Thanks, Gents. I tried all of the above and nothing works. I'm pretty sure TAS is the obstacle here.

I'm doing a PBX upgrade at this location in a couple of months that should eliminate the need for TAS in the first place so, no worries. I had just hoped to get it working in the interum before I flew back home at the end of the week.

I'll piddle with it a little more and post back here if I discover a solution. Right now, I have a cut-over to prepare for.

I heartily appreciate your responses. S!
