real simple for the most part. Find out what type of memory you have and how many DIMM slots you are using. Most are two and four, but there are some three slots out there. Most new memory, except RDRAM, will allow you to add in single sticks. There can be some issues with mixing and matching different types, but with RAM so cheap now, it might be better to remove what you have and add brand new RAM.
