I've been complaining about my newly-adopted Dell Dimension 2400 series computer being very slow. I've done all of the usual fixes, patches, etc. The performance has been much better, but not good enough.

I finally opened it up and went to install another stick of memory but found that I had the wrong kind. While I was at it, I noticed that the original stick wasn't seated properly. I removed and reseated it, this time making sure that both latches were properly closed.

I swear that this thing is much faster now. Could it have been functioning with the memory not fully-seated (maybe running without all of the memory present)?
