We have an oldish iDCS 100 PABX with a MISC1 card. I know how to do SDMR & PCMMC using the two serial ports, but I'm wondering about other computer logging/management/CTI software.

I think I'm right in saying the OfficeServ software won't work as it requires LAN connectivity (we don't have that on or PABX), but I've seen mention of "smart connect" software which might be what we want?

Is that what I should be looking for, and if so is there a demo version available somewhere?

Thanks

It's pretty slow, but OSM will work via the serial port.

Most of the logging and management reporting will feed through the SMDR. The CTI and the like need the lan so I dont know how you would get by without it.

Never heard of a "smart connect" software but now you have peaked my interest.

**off to research**

Catfish: Is OSM available as a trial version?

WRichey: Here are two links about "smart connect", and I also found a manual for it somewhere which did mention the iDCS:

You must purchase OSM from your Samsung dealer, there is no trial version.

I think were getting a little confused. Your not using OSM now (office serve manager) aka pcmmc?

The other apps are Officeserv Call, Operator, link, easyset, dataview, open tsp, email gateway and softphone.

The advanced call management there is the same as pabxsoft which you dont need a lan for and there is a trial version of that.

The smart control I assume is the same as Samsungs other apps and more than likely requires the lan.

I hadn't realised that Officeserv Manager was just the rebranded PCMMC software, so isn't really what I'm looking for unfortunately :-(

So it looks like for the time being all I can do is get information out of the system via SDMR, rather than make any changes (eg. initiate a call, etc).

These are the "smart control" manuals I found, which mention compatibility with Samsung DCS & Compact I/II PABXs:

https://www.samsungtelephonesuk.co.uk/downloads/39.pdf
https://www.samsungtelephonesuk.co.uk/downloads/38.pdf
https://www.samsungtelephonesuk.co.uk/downloads/36.pdf

Has anyone heard of these before? Are they what I want? Are they still available & can I get a trial?

Thanks

Some of you "Old Timers" might need to correct me but,
Smart Control, went away a long time ago. I have a copy of it but never installed it or used it. It requires Windows 95 or 98. It did use a serial connection on the back of your local PC. There was a serial device that connected in between the station keyset and the phone system. The only thing it did was allow an individual user to manage their calls and create screen pops. The Smart Console was an Operator Console.

Guys,

This is one area where the UK and the US diverged in their Samsung product offerings. So a bit of History.

Both countries used the 1ST Party CTM Modules (connected via a serial port) with the Smart Control application. This has now been dropped and replaced by the LAN based OS Call App.

The Operator consoles sold in both countries were very different. The US sold Smart Operator, and the UK Smart Console. Both of these were third party products licenced from different vendors, and they were very different products.

Both of these have now been repaced by a common Samsung sourced OS Operator Product.

The UK also sold a Screenpoping app called Smart Display, but this has also been discontinued.

The products in the Smart Connect range are current products that work through the OS Link, and are produced by an independant UK company caled Oak Telecom.

The iDCS100 does have a LAN port, its on the MEM card (at least all the MEM4 cards we got here in Australia have them, the MEM3 card was never released here so i don't know about that.

The OS Link V2 software has and option for connection to the pabx via serial (this option has been removed from the new V3 software), I have never used it but it should work, though what the pinout for the cable is i don't know
