No, Typically we would just install OM2 fiber. This isn't really about the Cisco switches it's really about OM3's backword compatibility with products that would only need OM2 fiber.
Basically, if I plugged in your basic TRENDnet 10/100 Mbps multi-mode fiber converter on OM3 fiber. Would it work properly.
