It's not a feature thing. That is a liquid display. So if she wiped too hard it could've caused that. Sometimes if you unplug the phone wait 10 seconds and plug it back in, the display will fix itself. Or you can try applying slight pressure to it as she would have and see if it returns. For me they have started working after trying the reset.
