Our office has a Key Voice system that was installed in the 90’s.
Dos 6.22, Dialogic D40, Corporate Office V8.5, connected to Toshiba phone system.

Has been in operation without problem, until this week.
It now boots up into “demo” mode and will only use one phone line.
To my knowledge there has been nothing changed on the system.

I have tried replacing the hard-drive with a ghost copy that I made 4 years ago.
I have tried swapping all the components (imaged HD, Dialog card and Key) to a different computer.
No Change.

That leads me to think that it is the security key (dongle).
Can this be fixed or is the EOL for this system?

It does sound like the key is bad. I know that some of them used to have a button battery on them. I used to have some sitting around give me a day or two to see if I can locate some.

OS thinks either the dongle is missing or defective. A bad parallel port on the PC would also give the same. Some keys had a number that would activate only with boards supplied from Key Voice.

UPDATE:

Contacted a local business telephony experts and was determined that the security key was bad.

The tech had a couple or keys from a retired system.

We are back up and running.
