I have a long time customer that works from home with a remote secretary using an Avaya IP phone. His favorite feature on the previous Partner system was caller ID inspect, or more specifically being able to hit the blinking (ringing) button on the partner phone to see who was calling without actually answering the call on an extension with a line key set for no-ring. Since we installed an IPO 9.1 (essential edition) a few years back and programmed it to work similar to the Partner system he has had a request I can't figure out but after the latest extension add promised to try... (Note: the point of the upgrade to IPO was to provide his secretary a remote IP phone. When she tried to retire, he found a way to keep her working so she kept her job and moved from NJ to NC). His home has digital 9508 phones, analogue single line phones, fax, and POTS lines. The system has two combo cards and one analogue phone 2 card. In his kitchen the extension is programmed with line appearances for the house lines (immediate ring) and the business lines (no ring) he wants to be able to press a button to see who is calling on the business line then decide if he wants to answer it while having coffee early in the morning (he can hear another extension ringing so wants to know who it is). With the Partner system pressing a line key programed for no-ring showed the caller ID, then began to ring. With the IPO pressing the no-ring line key immediately answers the call on speaker. He can apparently hear the phone in another room ringing when enjoying coffee so looks at the phone in the kitchen but wants to choose to answer or not based on who it is. He does not want the business lines to regularly ring on this extension, although if after pressing a key they do for that call only like the partner did it is okay.
Any suggestions?
