I know this is a basic question, please be kind I'm new to the telephone side of things. My background is on the data side of things...
I have six users with IP sets (5220 / 5240) on our ICP3300. They are moving out of the building and would like to have VM set to play a "we have moved" info message to callers for 6 months after their departure.
My problem: I changed the call routing to send all calls directly to VM and all works as I want it to. Then when I unplug the phones the extensions go "out of service" with a rapid reorder tone.
My question: How do I set this up so the extensions stay in service but don't have a real phone associated to them? Is there a Null or phantom type of device I can choose? or am I going about it all wrong?
Thanks, Adam

Thanks for the quick response...
I thought about that as an option but it didn't seem 'elegant'. Is that really the way Mitel would have you do it?

Key appearances that are re-rte always to v/m would work (and could also be programmed on a phantom PKM so they don't actually take up any keys on a set). If all six ext's are going to the same "we have moved" greeting, you could create a sys speed call for each of the six exts, pointing to the same number, and have that number re-rte always to a new v/m box that would contain the "we have moved" message.

There is no real elegant way to do it. But either way you can free up the ip licenses for use elsewhere.
