I have a 50 room motel with an sx50 system. Our night feature is set to ring on ext 400, how can I change this to ring extension 401 or how can I set forwarding on extension 400 to transfer to extension 401. Thanks for any help you can give...

You Might try this

Flexible Night Service
Description This feature routes incoming trunk calls to any selected extension, Hunt Group, Ring Group, Night Bell, the Attendant Console or RMATS when the system is in Night Service. The assignment of the extension or Hunt Group to which calls are routed can be made from the Attendant Console at any time. When a trunk call arrives, if the extension or hunt group is busy, does not answer, has Do Not Disturb set or is vacant/invalid, the call is rerouted to the Night Service Trunk Intercept Point.

Attendant Console Key
While the System is in Night Service:
• Press and hold down the NIGHT key.
• The LCD displays the first trunk programmed for Flexible Night Service and its Night Inward Dial Trunk Intercept Answer Point.
• If necessary, dial * to step the display through the trunks that are equipped and programmed for Flexible Night Service.
• Release the Night key.

Vad, you forgot to tell him Register 08. And this all assuming the generic is 53/54/55.

And that won't take care of outside calls. Command 501-580, register 5, bits D, E, F.

Unfortunately, unless he knows the equipment number of extension 401, (001-160) he can't use the info we have provided. And the equipment number(s) of the trunks. (501-580)

So, hopefully, he can successfully forward 400 to 401, which may not be allowed in COS. And I'm not sure he will be able to forward these particular calls. frown

So, to forward the trunks, IF flexible night forwarding is allowed, he needs to refer to the operator manual, which is probably long gone.

Edit: And TDS came to the rescue with the Flexible forwarding instructions for trunks, what timing! smile

So, R Thompson, what else can you tell us, and what do you know about your SX50? Sorry to make this so complicated, but you asked. smile John C.

I have the operations manual, but it is all greek to me...My last hotel had the older SX50 so this one is totaly foreign to me. I cant even figure out how to get into the command controls.

Is there not a way to forward the calls from the extension?

Yoiu can forward from the extension if it is allowed in the Class of Service. The following are the default forwarding codes

Busy/No answer 60
Always 56

So you can try to see if you can call forward. If you want to do it always then you would pick up ext 400 dial 56 then 401 (extension to forward to). If it takes it you should get dial tone back.To cancel just pick up 400 and dial 56 then hang up

I have a sinking feeling you are NOT using an SX50. Does the console have 2 rows of buttons just below the display? Is the display COMPLETELY different in lay out? Does the expression "SC1000" appear near the display?
The only difference among the SX50 consoles are the later ones had tiltable displays and the earlier ones were tan rather than white. Button layout identical, display identical.
If any of the questions I asked are answered with a 'yes', pretty much everything we told you is WRONG. John C.
