Hoping someone can help with an issue on my SX-50, the original programmer/installer on my system had programmed his own operator service in the system so when customers dial 9 then 0 they are connected to some crappy operator service which over charges them, How can I take that out of the system so that when customers dial 0 they get the regular verizon operator, which is my phone company.

This is done by the ARS program. You'll need a tech. Either on-sight or over the telephone. AND, you'll need the PW or know how to bypass the requirement.

Not necessarily. You need to see if your Dial 0 is PICC'd to the alternative dial tone supplier. Take back your own phone lines.

Dial *19 at console enter trunk # then dail 0 to see were it goes. if verizon operator comes on. sx50 will need a tech to program modified digits for 0+ routing
ps while the tech is there change memory battery with yhe power on

What icom said, especially THE BATTERY!!! It's probably a CR2032, you can get a lot of places. It's one of the proverbial 'coin' batteries. Even Wal-Mart carries it! Have one ready, it's easy and quick to do. Just make sure he leaves the system turned on while he is changing it!

I never knew that 0 can be substitute with any Provider's number instead. If you dial 9 for the trunk group access and dial 0 it will go to the Operator of the current Provider. If 0 comes not to Verizon means Provider is not Verizon but somebody else. I never knew that you can dial 10 digits and get an Operator of some Provider. I am probably wrong but for my 20 + years I never dial anything but 0 to rich an Operator. Besides I always knew that any Provider while you on their trunk getting a dial tone won't allow you to dial any other Operator besides their own. Who wants to loos money?

Vlad...
Not true... Since I have been requested by a few customers to have all dial "0" calls to go to a specific carrier and all "00" calls to go to another, I know for a fact that a Tech can program the system to send calls to wherever they want. So a guest calling 9 + 0 will go exactly where the system/tech tells it to go which isn't necessarily the current dial tone provider.

Patels,
I agree with Carl...contact your current provider and see if your service has a PIC on it pointing to a different carrier. If it does, have it removed and 'picced' to where you want it as long as it doesn't violate your contract if you have one with them.

I made pretty good money thru the 90's hanging autodialer on motel system all over the great plains that would any digit string you wanted in front of whatever the customer dialed. Added $1 for us, $1 for the Patels and probably a couple of $ to the AOS we routed to. The Bell started allowing the PIC at the central office. The SX50 were nice because ARS allowed added the access codes in the system and we didn't have to fight the cantankerous autodialers.
All that ended with the advent of calling cards and cell phones.

Yup. I got canned in KS, 8/2000. They needed to cut costs and I was the most expensive expendable.(They went Bankrupt anyway) Then I got a job in NC working for an AOS company that had a twist. We kept ALL the $$$ and the motel got a new 50 or 200. We sent them a check each month so they could make the payment. Was working pretty good since we pooled the $$$ from all of them and that took care of the monthly variation. Then 9/11, on top of unlimited cell phones and down the tubes we went! (We died after 6 months of trying to keep it together by branching out into retail sales and service.)
