I do not mean to be rude, but if you guys do not know basic programming, then you have no business messing around in an Option system. You are very likely to really screw things up. Hire a tech. It may cost you a little bit, but how much is it going to cost when you accidently shut down your entire system?

Point well taken. Being a Norstar tech, the Option is a completely different beast. I can do basic Option stuff, just had a pinch, spur of the moment request from a client, and no time to get my cheat sheet. But also, we all started somewhere.
I do appreciate your responses.

Paul144 is correct...these switched can be totally hosed if you don't know their shortcomings. Pick up a used system and manuals if you don't have access to an Option tech. Be sure you know what you are getting into before you get in over your head.

I made my post, not as a knowledgable Option system programmer, but as a resonably intelligent person who spent a little over a week trying to get one set up as a test cabinet so that we could repair the phones and then adequately test them. I finally got the whole thing set up and working, with the ports programmed correctly, only to have the system run it's midnight routine, find no phones plugged in, and reset all of the flippin ports. That test cabinet used up almost 2 full bottles of Jim Beam. Finally got the whole thing running right, and the power supply blew out. I will never again attempt to screw around with one of those systems without first attending some classes or at least observing a person who does know how to do it right for a long time.

Paul144 I know your problem. All NT techs no that 2 bottles of JB are not enough to finish the job. LOL
