I know I've showing my ignorance here. I was at a site, just to do a survey. They had a Norstar Meridian system 8x24 with several add on modules. They also had several units that had two modular line cords. These units were about 4" high by 8" and 2" deep. Are they some type of power failure device? I found no numbers or name on them to give you further information. I'm just curious as to what they are for.

Those sound like ATAs---Analog Terminal Adapters--for Single Line devices--usually credit card machines, fax machines, cordless phones. One modular jack goes to a system port on the 66 block and the other mod jack goes to the s/l device. Should also have a black AC adapter on it.

JW, thanks so much. That was bugging the heck out of me. I've never worked on one so I had no idea what they were for. Kinda funny they'd put in a bunch of those in instead of one of the larger port sizes. I did look up straight line devices for the system and all I found was an 8port, I think, since I've slept since then. Again thanks for the info.
