Did you have the customer follow the instructions to the "T" ?? Directly from the USER CARD - It says: WARNING: The rechargeable battery pack must be fully charged before you use your T7406 handset for the first time. To correctly charge a new battery pack and handset: 1. Charge the battery pack in the battery port at the back of the charger for a minimum of 30 minutes. 2. Install the battery pack onto the back of the handset. 3. Put the handset into the handset port on the charger. When the contacts touch correctly, the handset charge indicator (left LED) lights up red. The battery pack is fully charged when the LED turns green (three hours). 4. Place the spare pack into the back battery port. The battery pack indicator light (right LED) turns red while it charges. The spare battery pack is fully charged in approximately 12 hours (LED turns green).
This is directly from Nortel. "If you do NOT follow these instructions exactly, the phone/batteries will not work."
In other words NOT charging them as per instructions you will destroy them. That is my first guess as to the problem. The problem is putting the battery into the phone first and charging. BAD!!!!!
Nortel had sent me to a site for a T7406 problem. I was talking with the Nortel Tech and that is what he told me. I had to ask the customer how he charged the batteries. He said he just put it in the phone. Nortel said it probably won't work. Problem?? Won't send SS Code.

You must power the base staion off and back on, then send the SS code. I think it is 60 seconds after it is powered up, that it says invalid every time.
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

Also, I've found it helpfull to hold down the "SEND" button until the handset beeps when you're sending the SS code. If it doesn't work, cycle the power on the base and try again.

I agree. You need to get into the menu get up to send code, unplug the base for a few seconds, plug it in and hold that button.
I've never had one not come up so far. But then I have followed the instructions EXACTLY. It is truly amazing when you follow the directions EXACTLY, how well it can work.
Does the onsite guy have a copy of the instructions or just winging it?
