I have been lurking here for a while now, and finally have cause to ask for help.

Installed a BCM400 rls 4.0 at the end of Feb. '07. It has version 4.0.2.03.

Issue is, I cannot connect to it through Element Manager anymore. BCM Monitor connects, and the line monitor tab is working. Only odd thing I see there is that it appears 2 of the 4 IP trunks show active, when they are not. I can connect to the BCM through a web browser, CallPilot works good and I can connect to that for changing mailboxes etc through a web browser as well. I also tried the serial connection, and that works fine. In Element Manager, I can validate the device successfully, however when I try to connect, I get the error:

Exception occurred when trying to connect
Detector 'BCMDetector' cannot determine the device type for 192.168.xxx.xxx.

I am unable to find anything on Nortels site regarding this, but did find one thread on another site that said this was a HD issue, but no known cause.

Anybody else run into this? Or has anyone heard of a cause or even better a resolution?

Thanks!

Jeremy

Which Element Manager did you use ? Did you use the one you have used before for BCM-50 Version 1 ?? I would suggest that you delete that one and download from the New BCM 4.0, the new Element Manager.
If you already did that, then forget this post.

If you have previously been able to connect to it, then you should already have Element Manager 2. If not, download EM 2, as NTlayoff suggested.

If you haven't rebooted, I would do so, as Tronic1 has suggested. If you have already rebooted, short of an IP address issue, I wouldn't know. Maybe BCMGuy will stop in soon and shed some light on it for us.

Well, I have been able to previously connect - using a newer Element Manager (downloaded from BCM50 r2). So I don't think EM is the issue. Unless there is something within Element Manager (the BCMDetector) that is product specific. This is the only BCM400 I connect to with EM, everything else is BCM50's. I have not been able to reboot yet though, hopefully can do that early morning tomorrow. Unfortunately there really is never a good time to take their phones down for a reboot, but isn't that the story everywhere? smile

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll update after a reboot.
