this probably will sound like a stupid question but here goes. I have always worked on nortel cics systems, today i encountered a MICS that i had done some minor work in the past on, anyways i encountered an interesting situation. When a phone is moved from one jack to another its extension follows it, i always thought the extension was attached to a station port on the MICS, im just confused

Jay:
Seems like in programming you have program set for extension follow feature.
Its following the keyset, no dont think this is strange, just the way the system is set up and programmed.

You have 'set relocation' set to YES in 'system programming'. It allows what you describe.

CICS and MICS are the same in this regard. They both have set relocation option.

Interesting--sure....but I think almost all techs who service the MICS/CICS products make sure that the feature is OFF. It can really mess up the MDF.
But if you're aware that it is on--well, that's not too bad. It's really the first feature that I look for when I take over a new Nortel.
