Using a grinder is an art form these days! We have a guy at the store who does all the sharpening, cuts down keys, even trims down screen door frames, all with the grinder.

I got the 750x at a after Christmas sale last year at Sears for $99.99.
I know what your saying Larry and Jeff about the grinder. My dad can sharpen bits with a grinder, but every time I try to sharpen with a grinder the bit winds up in the garbage can. Usaully about a inch shorter than it was to began with.

The only problem I've run into with it is the long flexible bits don't line up very easy. Other than that it's great.

I cut my finger once on the cutting wheel of the key machine. Luckily it wasn't bad because that thing is SHARP!

I have the DD750 which appears to have been replaced with the DD750X. They both do bits up to 3/4" but the one I have will only do either a 118 or 135 degree pitch. The new model is now adjustable from 115 to 140 degrees.
The problem is that's still not an aggressive enough angle for installer bits. I use flex bits and most of them have a pitch of 90 degrees or less.
I had a few broken bits that I had "nothing to lose" so I sharpened them at 118. They just don't "dig" in and tend to wander too much at this angle (which is needed on a flex type bit).
I think the Drill Doctor is good for resharpening a drill index (universal wood/metal bits) but it's not good for any type of installer bit.
