I've got a client that is interested in a BCM 50.

I'm competing with AT&T and their pushing the BCM 50 package.

I like to keep it simple and proposed a Nortel CICS w/Call Pilot.

Can I get some feedback on the BCM 50?

Is it easy to set-up?

I understand that you turn-on authorization codes instead of hardwiring equipment.

My supplier said if I'm familiar with the CICS, MICS and Call Pilot set-up, it shouldn't be a big hairy deal and tech support can back me up.

LECs around here don't sell the CICS/MICS anymore. Probably the same for you as well.

Yes and No. There is hardware involved if you go beyond the base cabinet.
Everything must licensed Out of the box it's 0x0x0 and no mailboxes. The base cabinet maxed out will be 4 CO x 12 digital x4 analog and 32 IP phones.

Programming is done through proprietory software (downloadable from the box and the preferred method) or via a phone. The BCM is does so much more than a CICS and like all Nortel products I recommend you take the installer training if you intend sell them.

If you decide on a BCM50, ensure your supplier provides ver 3 minimum.

Hmmm, and I can remember when it took a 25 pair 'cable' to run a single phone, and you could answer it AND transfer a call to another phone that was on another 25 pair cable!
Ahhh the good old days!

Good luck on your sale,

I think the real issue is if they need a Voip system then bcm is a valid option.if they need A tdm switch then a norstar is a valid option..BUT Only if they will never need Voip.

BCM 50 is by far the better option.

I closed the deal and the BCM50 is enroute.

I'll be burning the midnight oil on this one, stand-by for an S.O.S. (hopefully not).

My tech support gave me some good pointers.

Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions.
