Hi Guys, I have read many topics and you guys are pretty Knowledgeable. I am a hobbyist in mechanical/electronic and have a little question.
I just got a used Nortel T7316E for my home office but the phone doesn't seem to do anything except flashing as soon as I plug the line in to it.
What can I do? What happen to it? Where can I get a new board or maybe you can point me in the right direction in terms of the broken part on the board. I feel lost here, Thanks Erik

No KSU in the home office, only plugged in the wall as any other home phone. Thanks Erik

Unplug it and leave it be. It will not work without a KSU. If you have the unit plugged into the wall, and someone called your number, the ring voltage will probably smoke the phone and render it useless.

There are plenty of other models out there for a SOHO, that don't need to be behind a KSU.
If you let us know what you're looking for as far as features, we can get you going in the right direction.

Dave, according to the OP he has a T7316E. I don't think he will get that to work without a KSU.

SO you guys are saying that my problem is a matter of KSU? If yes, I guess I will either buy a KSU for cheap or sell it. But would it be flashing without a KSU, or is it broken?
Thanks Erik

It very well could be flashing w/o the KSU present. There is enough voltage in the line to power the phone's lamp. It is attempting to locate the KSU and receive its programming....for which there isn't any.

Rich, I know, that's why I asked what the OP wanted for features. Maybe he needs a M9316 or M9417, etc.
Dayz: You definitely need a KSU to make that work. Kind of ridiculous to get a KSU for one phone, especially if you only have one line. You need a SLT, not a system phone. BTW, it's flashing "Looking" for a KSU, which isn't present.
