Are the software releases the same? If they are it can't hurt. Besides then you will know if it is a cabinet or software problem.

If it is working, I wouldn't mess with it. You get no gold star for proving anything.
I would send the old one back, let someone with a test bench work on it.
If anything goes wrong now because you wanted to experiment, you really stepped on your dic......
