I am installing a TD816 PBX and a TVS75 VPS. (This is the first system I've configured.) I configured a port on the 816 for the VPS and integrated the two systems through a d-pits connection, and I have been able to access the voicemail ports from a station.

Unfortunately, I can't for the life of me figure out how to have the VPS answer an outside call after a certain number of rings, or how to have a mailbox answer a call to a particular extension. I think what I need to do is a) set up my VPS port to intercept the outside call after four rings (I've set up a custom menu) and b) have the corresponding mailbox intercept at an extension after a couple of rings. I'm sure there are just a couple of settings on the 816 I need to adjust.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sam Martin

SW, you are correct. If you would like the AA
to pick up as an overflow or after 4 rings set the TD 816 program field 409 day and 410 night to EXT. 165.
Set program 203 to 4 rings.
Forward any extensions you want to go directly to their greting by presng intercom, 5 165.
the "5" signifies the condition BNA, (busy no answer) You can use the different codes for all calls, no answer or busy only if you like.
If you want the auto attendant to pick up immediately, (maybe on nights) set program
407 for day 408 for night to ext 165.
The only program you should have used to assign the TVS ports should have been 117.
The TVS will do the rest on quick set up.
You did mention you had DPITs established so your probably OK.
good luck, Gem

Gem,

The 409 and 410 commands worked like a charm! I'm working out some kinks with voicemail boxes, but that hopefully shouldn't take too long.

By the way, how do you get rid of the "Welcome to the automated system" prompt before the main greeting kicks in? I'm sure I can find it in my VM program.

I and my semi-disgruntled co-workers thank you profusely.

I believe your using custom menus.
The 1st custom menu is always linked to a "Company greeting" assign the company greeting in port assignments as 32 and then go into company greeting # 32 and record a second of silence. Then the AA will see this, play 1 second of silence and start the custom menu.

I went in to change the company greeting through mailbox 998, but when I selected the change the company greeting option (5 then 1), I received a message saying that the function was not available. Any clues as to why?

Disconnect your admin. term.
(the laptop)
Also when you called intercom 165 did it happen to bounce to 166?
Either one can cause that.

That's interesting. I didn't know you had to be on port one for admin duties. Or is that just an infrequent bug?

It's always been the 1st port. I use to tell people to go to extension 101 but if their using flexible numbering Ext. 101 is not always on port 1. You can assign a managers extension which will also let you into the system
programming. I believe with version 2 and higher you can program the 1st 8 fields from any display set with a managers password.
This is for the TD system.
Did you think I meant the TVS?
