I came in this morning to test some voicemails and was unable to do so. I've got a serial cable that I've used for years and haven't made any changes to my programming PC (XP Home). I can connect just fine "...CARD TEST..." etc., but once the VM finishes booting, a carriage return by me elicts no response. I had this problem when upgrading OS's a few years ago and ended up D/L ing Hyperterminal Personal Edition 6.3 which allowed me to connect. This morning, it seemed that Mr. Gates had replaced my version of Hyperterm during one of his security updates, which unfortunately, cannot be uninstalled. I've reinstalled hyperterm with both version 6.3 and then 5.0 to no avail. Additionally, I've tried 2 different (previously tested) cables, 2 different VM's, 3 PC's (one with a USB-Serial adaptor) and just for fun, changed flow control between xon/xoff, hardware, and none (to the point of I don't know which was "original")

Thanks, SNC I tried ZOC and got the same results. I was able to finally communicate with a "factory" cable (that came in with a system trade in), on my desktop machine. My "programming" PC does NOT work with this cable and my "home-made, worked in the past" cable, did *not* work on my desktop machine. I'm gonna let the hair I pulled out grow back before I try to figure out what in the heck is different -Joe
