I have a customer that wants four sites to be tied together with IP Gateways. This is the first request that we have received for this feature and would appreciate any feedback from techs that have implemented this for the TDA systems. It would have one TDA100 and three TDA 50s' to begin with. Primary use would be interoffice communications, with some inbound/outbound calling on occasion. Customer pulled KXTD systems and purchased SIMPLIPHONE equipment from Costco. The system has had many issues and the manufacturer is out of business. They did get used to the VoIP feature and saw considerable savings. I want to avoid KNOWN issues, as one of these sites is 300 miles from our shop.

I have set up 14 shops with 1 100 the rest 30's We have a mpls circuit ( private dsl, 64k up and down stream). this works great for internal and transfering calls between sites and the only problem is if the mpls goes dowm.
Internal calls because or number of sites we use 4 digit extensions, any shop dials 4 digits to get any shop, and the extension name comes accross on incoming internal. To dial out through other shops is a lot harder as the line access would have to be different in each location, plus a lot of setting up with number tables. I dont normaly sell this as out bound through other shops

When this goes down, do you have to reset the phone systems or will it return to normal after the connection is reestablished? What type (brand) of router are you using? This customer currently has Cisco 831s' at both locations.

The system will establish connection with the other site straight away once the link is back up.
They have cisco routers in each site. are you running over dsl or a private circuit?

The customer has a broadband service from the local cable television carrier. For that reason I believe that it is DSL. They will let me know the bandwith tomorrow, but they believe that it is 1.5M up and down.

Just putting in my two cents...
If its cable, it is very unlikely it will 1.5 in both directions.
Be sure to do a speedtest at speedtest.net to make sure you have 90 kbps in both directions for each line. Its seldom to see anybody get the advertised rates in my neck of the woods.
I usually make sure there is a 25% tolerance on the bandwidth for cable modems. They tend to bog down at peak traffic times (its a hub style network).
If there isn't enough bandwidth, you might consider getting them better connection before you end up pulling all your hair out.

Jojon, how many lines?
I might stand corrected; was just concerned about the voice dropout when the ISP doesn't do their job.

Kahluawire, the one I have the 10 shope uses MPLS, it is like a private circuit, I would be concerned if it was just standard dsl.
Here in Ireland I would not sell any links across the DSL if they were going to depent on it for business, only point to point circuts or mpls circuts. If they want it to call internaly and did not realy care if it was not always good, thats fine.
On the other hand you could have land lines that break down too.

Is it comcast that you have up there by any chance there are rumors that they slow down traffic on some ip addresses and or ports but have not seen it my self.
