We recently switched carriers for both local and long distance and we are having some issues getting the new carrier to get the caller id information correct so that we can block or unblock our numbers on a per call basis.

The way we have done this in the past is simply to use the CLIP option to select either CLIP Line or CLIP Extension. The CLIP Extension has our number in it, the Line has nothing. So basically, when we want to have caller ID sent, we change the CLIP presentation to Extension and it sends our phone number to the carrier (who then attaches the caller id name to the call). The rest of the time (when it's set to CLIP Line) we send nothing so the carrier does not attach any caller id information to the call.

Here is a capture of the D channel on outbound calls for both blocked and unblocked calls to illustrate what I am talking about.

------------------------------------------------
THIS IS AN UNBLOCKED CALL (See Number= 4809703800)

Calling Party Number: 80 34 38 30 39 37 30 33 38 30 30
Type of Number= Unknown, Numbering Plan= Unknown
Number= 4809703800
Called Party Number: 80 34 38 30 34 34 34 36 32 34 37
Type of Number= Unknown, Numbering Plan= Unknown
Number= 4804446247

THIS IS A BLOCKED CALL (See Number= (0 Digit))

Calling Party Number: 80
Type of Number= Unknown, Numbering Plan= Unknown
Number= (0 digit)
Called Party Number: 80 34 38 30 34 34 34 36 32 34 37
Type of Number= Unknown, Numbering Plan= Unknown
Number= 4804446247
-------------------------------------------------

So you can see that the number does not send when I change the CLIP to "Line".

Now....

With the new carrier, they are telling me that they cannot "dip" this and send a caller id name when we send the phone number because of the options that say:

Type of Number= Unknown
Numbering Plan= Unknown

They tell me I need to send this:

Type of Number= National
Presentation Indicator= Allowed
Calling Number= Network Provided

Try as I may, I cannot figure out how to get the system to send the settings they need to get this straightened out. And the differences in terminology between what my system says and what they are requesting are throwing me off (i.e. I do not see Presentation Indicator in this capture at all). :confused:

Shouldn't they be able to grab this information the way I see it and simply send the caller id information when we send the number and not send caller id when we do not send the number?

Does anyone know how to send the information they need?

Is there another way to send/not send caller id on a per call basis?

Thanks in advance if you got this far and are still considering posting!! smile

Oops, I guess I just needed to look in the right place!!

I just went into the port properties on the card and went to "Network Numbering Plan" and changed these options there!!

NEW CAPTURE SHOWS:

Type of Number= National Number
Numbering Plan= ISDN/Telephony
