Hi. I have kx-ta824 system. Trying to connect FAX machine using ext. 108. This extension is configured to answer on CO4. FAX is receiving all incoming calls but cannot dial out. I'm able to dial local ext. like 103, 104 etc. though.
I have a programing software and a USB connection to the station. Any suggestions how to fix this issue? Thnx.

Put a '9' and a Pause in front of the number you are trying to dial. And test the extension port with a plain old single line phone. If the single line phone can't dial out by dialing '9', then the fax can't either and you've got 1 or more programming errors. Get back after you try these suggestions. Even if it works, we all like to know 'we did good'.
Oh, and welcome to the forum! smile John C.

Djusai, if you only have 1 or 2 lines make sure that the 2nd or 3rd line is set to not connected in co settings, if you have the expandsion card make sure all co's not in use are set as not connected

I have system with 4 CO lines and 16 extensions. I have all CO's not in use disabled. Still cannot make an outside call from my FAX machine. Incoming and Intercom calls is coming through.

Djusai, When you dial 9 with the single line phone, do you here a new dial tone? ("Pause" on a sinle line phone is just that, dial '9', pause for 2-3 seconds, then dial the rest of the number. But, I have a feeling you already figured that out.) If you hear silence, then you somehow are still accessing unused CO ports. If you hear a fast busy, then somewhere in programming, calling out from that port is denied. If you hear a new dial tone, what do you hear after you dial a local phone number. If you here a fast busy then, again somewhere in programming there is an error. If you succeed in completing the call, then there is something wrong with the way you are attempting to make the call with the fax. Only thing I can think of offhand is that the fax is pulse dialing and the 824 is not passing the dial pulses. Or the phone lines won't accept pulse dialing, which is not unusual. Oh yeah. If you are young, you may not know what pulse dialing is. That's how the phones with dials that you spin with a finger work. It can be done electronically, when you push the buttons on a dial pad. This not a joke, you'd be surprised how many folks have no idea what 'pulse dialing' is. They always had 'touchtone' phones. Get back to us, we are only here because we like to help folks. John C.

Dujasi, another thought. I believe you can access specific lines in you system by dialing '80' and the line number. Example, '801' should give you line 1, '803' should give you line 3, etc. You can observe what line you are getting while doing this by watching the line buttons on one of the multiline phones. You should see line 1 button light up if you dial 801, etc. Again, get back to us. Someone will respond pretty soon. John C.

I've tried 9 plus number. Nothing happend. After I dial 9 there is a silence and no dial tone.
I now what is the pulse mode means. FAX is in a tone mode. I tryed to connect it to a differen extention - same result: I can receive incoming call to this extension, dial intercom number and cannot dial outside nubmer. So it is somewhere in a programing. I'm looking in it and cannot find it.
Any ideas?
