The customer complained of dropped calls on line 1 and a dead ext.
Ive narrowed the dropped call issue to the first trunk so ive put in a new trunk card to no avail. Although it seems unrelated the dead ext is intermitent also even on different ports with different phones and different pairs. Im thinking its a short in the run but I was wondering does the tda 50 have any known power issues that would cause these problems or have any of you ran into a similar problems on these units. first trunk?could it be that its a provider issue?
did you test loop current and line condition of each c.o.?who is the provider?

When the customer complains of a "dropped" call, is it really a call in progress and then is disconnected, or is it that the phone rings, they pick up and no one is there? If it is the second, there are lots of things that can make the system think it is an incoming call. Caller id would tell the story. If the system is not configured for caller id and the telco is sending caller id, the data burst might make the system think the little bit of overvoltage is an incoming call and ring the co line. The fact it is line one to me indicates its the published number and not necessarily the port. I have had similar complaints and it usually isn't the hardware. Depending on the version of 50, there was an upgrade quite a while back that addressed cutoffs. Also if it is ring, pick up, nobody there, and is a real call, I would think someone would call back and say they were cut off..

I tested the line in port 4 and it had no issues and when i place line 4 in the first port it had the same issue thats why I think its a problem with the port.
call comes in, light goes solid red then drops.
I really think the 2 problems are related. a short in the wire grabbing the calls maybe?

What type of station port is it APT DPT? Could you remove that station from the connect block and retest. Does line one DIL to this extension and lastly what type of phone.

Station port is apt, the phone is a 7731. Line one does DIL to that ext.. Mod ends look fine, did a wiggle test and it doesnt simulate the problem. Im gonna try and remove the plug for that station from the ksu tomorrow and see if that does anything. No errors are reported in the log.

update:run was shorted causing line appear like its being dropped.
