I just had to post about this. I had a guy send me an antique Comdial 25-pair telephone for repair. He got angry when I told him that this was an antique and we couldn't even test it, let alone get parts to fix it.
Do any of you guys still have ANY customers using 25 pair telephones???

We still have a few customers that we try to maintain. They are all state agencies and simply can't get approval to upgrade until it goes completly down. I've ran two calls at one place in particular where the woman was praying I could'nt fix it so she could get approval for a new one, but I was able to correct the problem both times. I've still got a few 400e line cards in a box in back but when those are gone, they're gone.

You would be surpised at 1A-2's that are still out there.

I still have a few 1A2 systems out there too. I keep a box of cards, two old "shoebox" KSUs, and about 10 phones. The only service I've done in the last 3 years has been to insert some of those flat paper-like fuses. This is probably why you'll always have some 1A2--the systems don't do very much---but then not too much ever goes wrong either. I don't have my KSUs up and running for testing, so I'd be in the same boat your are...I know that there are places where you can get parts---but the question remains---is it worth it?? Generally, it's either the dial pad, or the light bulbs...but without a test KSU---you're in the dark a bit. Good luck.

Yep! Have that same box, says 1A2 and still support a few. Also carry CPC and PCP [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

Wow, I would have thought that they were all in a landfill somewhere by now... Now THAT is a product built to last.
We have been in repairs for over 10 years now and 25 pair phones were already rare enough 10 years ago that we never bothered getting the test KSU's or parts to fix them.

I'm not a bit suprised about all of the 1A2 systems still in service,I maintain a couple myself. Most of the ones I pull out are still working , the customer just wants something a little more sophisticated.

There is a lawyer around here that has 30 phones on his 1A2. It has 20 button speakerphones with conference bridge. He even had us hookup a blf unit so he can see which extensions are offhook. Great system in its time.

If all else fails, use a BFH.
