I know this is somewhat an unsual request but I don't know where else to look. I got a call from a defense attorney looking for a consultant to help him understand using cellphone towers to triangulate a persons positions (sorry if I used the wrong terminology). I was summoned to jury duty on an armed robbery case. The defense attorney tried to use cellphone records to prove his client's whereabouts. The attorney may want to visit with the cell company, as they would be great witnesses in explaining the logs, how things are triangulated, etc.

Yes, as kyle said the cell company would be the only ones to have records of where the call on a phone were made, on what cell tower and movements of the phone from cell tower to cell tower.a few monts ago a man was convicted of murdering his wife because his phone showed he was in that area when he said he was across town plus with times of where his phone was they could pick him up on cctv.
