I'm a Nortel guy but recently inherited a client with a Strata DK280. The only book I have is for the 42X(?). A local dealer insists programming is the same.
I can't enter programming. Attempting to program from 20 button set @ port/ext. 200.
All I'd like to do is give the receptionist indicator lights for five different extensions so she knows when someone is on the phone.

Should be program section 39 if I remember correctly. Toshibas are pretty far removed from Norstars!

Must be extension 205, circuit 6 of a PDKU or PEKU in slot 11, if I remember right.

For a default Strata DK280, (for me, anyway) the extension numbers starts from 200. Therefore, you would need to find Extension 205, which is Port 005. You can use your 20-Button display phone and hit
[Intercom][#][4][0][2] and it will show you this:
PHY=005 LOG=005
What you need is the LOG=005
Port 005 is always in the first Interface Card next to the Processor in the Base Cabinet. And yes, the DK424 Programming manual is almost the same with teh Strata DK280 except for a few extra program such as Prog 91 which the Strata DK280 does not have. Once you have located that port, you can proceed with Prog 39.
