Hi, I have a customer with a DK40i The intercom is setup for voice call intercom, not ringing. When someone uses the intercom from any station the call last about 15 seconds then drops. According to the customer this has happened for some time. I have checked the manual to see if there is a timer setting for this but haven't found anything useful. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Are they making an external or internal call? The call will be dropped if you are trying to make an external call on the intercom or an intercom call on a line.

It is an internal intercom call on pdn button from station to station. They have line appearance of all co lines on all phones. The stations are set to automatically select a co line when they pickup the handset or press on/off, but when they call over the intercom they have to press the pdn button to drop the co line and get intercom tone. When they call another station via intercom they get a tone and start talking, but after @15 seconds or so it drops the call. It sounds kind of like someone hit the flash hook and put you on hold because the caller end still has line noise. The only way to clear it is to hang up.

We have had this problem and it is a user error. This is what has happened for us and one reason we don't use off hook selection in some situations. User picks up the handset and it selects a line User wanted to make an intercom call and presses a DSS key Line is put on consultation hold and intercom call is completed (Just like you are transfering a call) CPC disconnect is detected on the line that was put on hold and it disconnets the liine and also your intercom call. If the user will press the intercom key before the DSS key it won't happen or take off the Line Selection

errr... the intercom feature times out after 15 or so seconds. if they want to talk over the speakers for a longer duration, have the receiving end press the speaker button. simple fix.

Meisgq is correct in pushing the speaker button (or picking up the handset) as the calling party is doing a voice announce with reply that does not become a real intercom call until the receiving party completes the call by pushing the speaker button or picks up the handset.
I would guess that your call forward no answer timer is set to about 15 seconds and that is what is happening.

I apologize for resurrecting the dead but this is a similar issue. DK 424. Intercom cals dropping after 5 minutes. Not sure if there is a call foward no answer timer on this extensionas most extension do not have VM. I can see this as a security issue, since, in theory, I could call and Extension and just stay on it until someone comes in to their office and I would be able to hear everything said. A timeout would inhibit that. So, Is it safe to assume that there is no timer to set, that this is by design and the work around is to actually have the called party push the speaker button or pick up the handset?
Thanks
