I am not a telephony person by background but have some knowledge...

I have recently started with a company and they utilize at Toshiba Strata 670 CTX (fairly certain) PN CHSUB672A+PS

The previous technician and the installation company could never get WinAdmin to work. So now it is up to me! WOOT!

I can ping what they have setup on WinAdmin as the port. But I get the "Cannot connect..." and "Check xyz..." but it also throws an error code of 2147217389.

Is there any insight y'all can share with me on this? I also saw that there is the new eManager but is that for the CIX and not the CTX boxes?

Sorry for being a newb and thanks in advance for your insights!!!

It sounds like you have the wrong ip address or bad ethernet wire. I am a newbie too. The other day I bought a used CTX100 system and programmed it using WinAdmin. I had to make sure the Toshiba system's ip address had a similar ip address to my other computers. WinAdmin will not work unless pinging works.

Thanks for the insight, 'Tone. I double-checked the IP addy with the installer and I ping fine. The installer told me that had it working until the previous tech updated the systems in here. So I think I am looking at a PC issue. Trying to dig up an old system to configure for it.

Turn off the firewall and popup blocker if you have SP2.

Make sure the computer running WinAdmin is set to 192.168.254.251.

I just saw a problem with an installed Winadmin that gave an error immediately while trying to connect. Turns out management and monitoring tools were not installed. Not sure how they got past the pre-install check.

Connection problems are usually ip or community name prblems. Hopefully the community name wasn't changed. The ethernet port sometimes can get locked up, which may require a reboot of the CTX.

Make sure the CTX IP is not used by anything else. Best to connect directly to the CTX with a cross-over cable, if the system is connected to the network.

Emanager was designed to work with the older CTX systems, but I've had some minor issues with it.

And, as stated above, turn off firewalls.

Thanks for the info yall!

Im a little confused by your answer, Amy... Is that the standard IP for that program or is that a default? Reason I ask is that I am running a 10.10.x.x private network and would have to use a standalone system (which is not what my bosses want).

You did say that you could ping the CTX. But I'd still make sure that you have the right IP address by checking program 916 via a DKT phone.
Try Newtecky's suggestions as they are the most common reasons.

Ah, if you are running a stand alone, that would be the IP address you need on the PC/laptop.

What I was trying to say is are you sure you know the IP address of the CTX? Program 916 will tell you that.
