I received a call from one of our stores saying the phones went out. They told me all the lights on the DK 424 (3 cabinets) went out except the Stratagy DK, which the power light stayed lit. They rocked the power and it came back up. I really dont want this to happen again so I switched out the main cabinet and power supply just in case. Has anybody had this happen before? And found out why. I do have a battery back up on it that is functioning correctly. Thanks

HOW BIG is the battery backup? I assume it is not one of the UPS units but real 80 amp hour 12 volt batteries?

There is a Toshiba part number I forget, but the batteries are hooked to this distribution unit and a propritary Toshiba cable hooked from the PS to the battery distribution unit.

Is there any heat problem going on in the telephone room .

I had a 280 go bonkers in a room w/ ac off
last week ,with ac on came right back after
power cycled.

The closest I got was the customer "sharing" the same power phase with the ac. So, it sort of "hung" every few minutes.

You mean the backup battery distributor RBDB? It was used when there is more than a single cabinet.

Yes, the RBDB is a junction point between the batteries and the three power supplies. I was so tired I couldn't remember the part number. If you don't have one you should.

How old are the batteries? Typically gel cells will give you 50% of new power after 5 years. There may not have been enough amps to run the thing with three cabinets. Look at your manual for battery backup specs.

A RBDB and enough batteries are very cheap compared to enough people to need three cabinets not having phone service.

Im working on improving the battery backup by installing an RBDB, right now there is 2 12 car type batteries hooked to the first 2 cabinets with a toshiba Express Power Pak or the 3rd. All of them are also hooked to a UPS for surge and battery backup and the power didnt go out. Thanks for your responses.

Just happened again 1st cabinet Stratagy power light only card with light on, power supply top power light on and + and -5 lights off. 2nd and 3rd cabinet no lights at all. :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:
And not sure if I said it before, but after this happened before I replaced the 1st cabinet and power supply. I guess the processor is next, too much programming to do and I dont have DK admin. :bang:

I have another C/D processor, I know if you change release you have to reprogram. Can I move the chips from one processor to another and retain programming from the old processor?

and no heat problems, A/C is good. Thanks

On the 424 if the main power supply goes out then none of the other power supplies will work. If the + - 5 volt light is out something is shuting it down like a bad card, you shouldn't have a bad power supply since you have already changed it out. We had a PDKU card that would work in the system for a day next morning system would be down took a while to find it.

You need to buy/find DK Admin if you are going to reprogram
