How much info does the client have? I mean do they know what the old VM had setup and how it was programmed, I doubt it. I just had the samething happen. The client lost the VM and bought one from a local refurb shop. I spent over 2 hours prying the info from the client, then did the programming another 2 hours only to find that the boss wanted to change things around. So I spent 8 hours installing a Flash VoiceMail with less than 20 users. But the single digit routing, message notify, day night and weekend greetings all take time to get right and test.

My point exactly guys! My first thought was that the price quote from the vendor seemed high, but after thinking about it, I know how we often get "burned" on these deals that are supposed to be simple plug-in and program job.
When our company is asked to give a repair estimate for insurance purposes, we make sure the estimate covers all the possilbe snags. Becuase the insurance company isn't going to pay more than the estimated price!
So, going back to the question of that fairness of that estimate.....my answer is still, "It all depends on the situation."

Thanks for all the help. I need to ask my client those questions, but I understand now the work that goes into reprogramming it. For some reason i thought it was just a plug and type deal. Thanks

One last question. My client is less then an hour from the vendor. Given that the card is $**** dollars and even if they had to spend 8 hours on the job wouldn't that add up to somewhere around $**** max, instead of $****. Thanks for the help

Based on the proximity of the vendor to the client, and given a reasonable profit margin, I agree that the price quoted sounds like it's about $2000 too much.
But as I mentioned in an earlier post, it may be the vendor's way to protect themselves against getting burned by a poorly defined project that is way bigger than they are initially told. It happens - all too often.
If you have not already done so, I would ask the vendor for an itemized estimate. Then you will get a better idea of where they are coming from. If they say the card is $4000, you know you are getting taken for a ride.
Good luck - let us know how it turns out.

This is not a quote. Its the actual invoice for the part and work done. It only took one day to replace, thats why I was thinking it was way to high. Does anyone know any good Toshiba dealers in Indianapolis.

If so the price invoiced was reasonable.
