Hey all -
Well I've got the enclosure and pedestal for my payphone, I'm hoping the payphone itself shows up today.
I'll probably be asking for some mounting help, (I don't at this point anyway) see how it can all go together to achieve that "You're not taking this phone out of here anytiime soon" security. Any assistance from you good people will be greatly appreciated!!!
The phone is coming with a steel mounting bracket, maybe the light will come on for me when the phone gets here.
Just a heads up.....!
Thx Matt

Not sure what type of payphone that you have. From what I remember, normally the bracket mounts to the pedestal with heavy screws designed for that purpose. There are heavy lugs that screw into the back of the phone. Once the lugs are in place on the back of the phone, hold the phone up to the bracket and allow the lugs to drop into slots on the mounting bracket. Next you place screws through the back of the phone and into the mounting bracket. This locks everything together. If the pedestal is secure, the phone is secure. Depending on the pedestal, you may not need the bracket.

With the Elcotel Series 5, G-Tel, and Protel models (and probably most others), the payphone's lower housing (which includes the entire back of the payphone) mounts directly to a universal type backboard (or perhaps the mentioned steel mounting bracket). After making a couple of connections between the upper and lower housings, the upper housing locks down onto the lower housing. Most payphones also require a "T-Key" , which works in conjunction with a separate lock and key for locking/unlocking the vault door (most are stainless steel) which protects the coinbox. I really enjoyed hanging payphones a few years ago. Good luck! :thumb:

Matt:
You are aware that that e-bay bid is just for the enclosure, not the pedestal itself, right? They make either a free-standing pedestal or a wall-mount assembly to hang this enclosure upon. Hopefully, you are getting a pedestal or wall-mount also.
You won't need the backboard as the pedestal is already drilled and tapped for direct mounting. I still like to use them though since they bring the phone out an extra inch, making it easier to get the T-key in there.

Yep, I found that out .. after I bought the enclosure. I let them know I thought thier ad was a bit misleading, they've revised it since the original, it used to say pedestal not included (in the smaller font) but... no pictures of just the enclosure (that I recall, could be wrong about that). Now they show both. All the info was there, I just didn't pay attention, my bad. They are a very friendly company, and fast shippers too. Threw in the security allen wrench as well.
Then it got here and the bulb was broken, got a new one @ Lowe's for $5.
Then I ordered a refurb pedestal... cost quite a bit less than new, and I doubt anyone could tell the difference. They even knocked off the $5 for the bulb.
Sadly, it's a drive up instead of a walk up like I wanted, but it's only 4" shorter... I can build a base to set it on if I decide to. It's actually not bad the way it is, you can lean with your arm on top of the enclosure this way.
Was originally gonna put it on the deck, but it looks so good and makes a great night light (well.. actually it sort of lites up the whole room)... I think I'll put it in my rec room instead.
I like the idea of the phone being extended out, plus rather than have an unused backboard, I'll go ahead and use it.
Will send pics when she's done, more than likely with some questions for y'all before I get there.
... this phone collecting stuff becomes an addiction real quick ...
Thanks Ed - Matt

Does it have its own extension off the 1A2 system?
