Not so fast [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]....I tried wiring the output of an ATA on my Norstar system and wired it to a different card in a different quadrant, and it STILL didn't work. Although this time I did get a fairly audible buzz. Now what?? I'm really starting to think that my problem is the poor job I did at punching the wires. Tweezers don't cut it and I probably need to buy a punchdown tool.

It works now..definately a dumb idea to terminate wires with tweezers. Tweezers caused bad/no connection and they caused me to get a pretty good zap of ringing currenct! Thanks for your help!

20 hertz...yes it does. Glad you got it going. Now put on another set take the lock screw out of the last keys and wire buzzers between them. You can have all kinds of fun and headaches messing with button and buzzers. Sure am glad we don't have to mess with them anymore.

As I read these posts I have to laugh......
why you ask....we all went through those glorious days of 1a2...button buzzer...diode matrix...so on and so on....

And NOW with the days of digital systems...1 pair wirng...800 page programming manuals...manuals written in languages other then english (panasonic!!) voice mail software patches every 4 weeks...tech support that is puzzled.....

GIVE ME BACK THE DAYS...when I sat on the floor for hours making amphenols on 100 pair cable and cutting down 584 c panels. Yes it was tedious and boring work..but in entailed no thought and gave me more time to look at all those pretty secretary's and intern's in the office's I worked in......

TODAY....we have to stare at laptop screens hitting f keys and arrow keys as we weave our way through menus and alternate screens in order to setup voice mail and phone systems......

WHO FEELS THE SAME!!!!

Add on a 6A intercom, that you had to bring in with a fork lift or a lot of bodies, and you've got a lot of clicking and clacking going on. Remember in those old big office systems and step offices...silence was the worst thing you could hear. Yes the office scenery did make the time go by.

I still have my amp tool (somewhere) I'll let you have it for 200 bucks! I haven't used it in years.
I just removed one of those old giant intercom systems from a Dupont estate in Delaware and put in a new digital DX80. It took 3 of us to carry it out.
The estate owner is 97 years old and all he cared about was how long it would last. I was thinking if I were him I wouldn't even buy green bananas.
