There is a Bogen Multicom 2000 for horn paging and nearly all of the phones have a DSS key assignment for a one touch that is set as: #8#8. On the phone the button is labeled "page". However, when I press it, all that happens is #8#8 is displayed on the screen and then shortly it gives me a fast busy.

If I dial #8#8 and then anything else (like 01, 02, ect) it will fast busy on me too.

If I dial #31 and then 01, I can hear the relay engage in the Strata cabinet for the CO card and the display reads: External Page .. but nothing over the horns. lol. I cannot figure out how to get it work.

What do I need to dial before/after pressing the page button?

Thanks!

John

More info .. dialing #8622 will engage the relay in the Strata cabinet and display "External + Allcall Page" on the phone.

Nothing over the horns.

Telling us what cabinet you are working on would help such as DK280, DK424i, CTX28, CIX670.

Judging by the 6 BWDKU cards and the IES32 from his other post, I would think it is a CIX 670.

The tricky thing here is that the #8 codes are not default codes for the Toshiba CIX. The all page code is #30, and the group paging code is #31 plus 2 digit zone, 01, 02, etc.

All the codes can be changed. Possibly the all page code was changed so that it could not be accessed by people who should not be making pages.

For whatever reason, it does say External page on the screen. Since you have a 670 ( I am assuming), there would have to be a BIOU card that does the external paging. You may have to do some tracing to see where the bogen is connected. It should go to a 25 pair cable onto a wiring block.

Roger that. laugh That type of information always helps! Apologies ..

It is a CTX670. FWIW, I ran program 901 and it spat out:

N A 310 MK026 PK DV3 BX-EM.00

Agreed, that would seem logical since it is a school. If it is out there to be messed with .. the kids will mess with it. smile

Afirm on the CTX670. I've traced the wiring from the Bogen back to an RCOU3 card in cabinet one.

An RCOU card? Then they are using a trunk CO port as paging access. This is not completely uncomon. If this is how it is setup, the paging access codes won't do any good. You would have to find the line number they built into the system for paging access.

It may be easier to look in emanager, which on your previous post you said you had installed, and look at the trunk assignments.

For trunk assignments, there is only one: 010401 which corresponds to the physical location of the RCOU3 card in cabinet one slot four. Here is the information found under the "Basic" tab:

01 Line Equipment No. - 010401
02 Incoming Line Group - 2
03 Outgoing Line Group - 2
04 Dial Mode - DTMF
05 Signaling - LOOP
06 Start Method - Immediate Start
07 Release Supervision - Not Received
08 Answer Supervision - Not Received
09 Trunk Name - PAGING INTERFACE
10 External Ring Repeat - Supplied
11 DTMF Back Tone - DTMF Tone
12 Hunt Order - 1
13 Immediate Cut-Through - Enable
14 CO Line Guard Time - time 1500ms

Since ILG and OLG are both set to "2", I can use eManager and go to Trunk > ILG and OLG but nothing jumps out at me as far as an extra dialing sequence to engage the Bogen.

I don't know how many CO trunks are in front of that, and I could be wrong, but I think you can access them by [Intercom] # 70 XX where XX is the line number. At least I did that this afternoon on a 424 and it works on my CIX 100

So, if you have 8 lines in front of 010401, you could try dialing [Intercom]#7009 (goes by the full card not number of active dial tones) or if you had 8 lines and another 4 line card it could be [Intercom]#7013. Just do the math and try it.

That is your paging CO. It even says it in the name. The OLG/ILG are not really important. You just need the line number, which you should be able to see in emanager.

As the Bunnie said, you can access the line by dialing #7001 for line 1, etc. I was a bit hesitant to post that #7 code, but I am pretty sure it is in the user guide. If I am wrong, I am sure a moderator will correct this for me.

You can also use key assignements to put a line key on the phones. Press the button and start talking.
