I have a few Vodavi Wanderer handsets and one base. None of the serial numbers on the handsets match the number on the base. According to the user guide this is supposed to be a matched set. Is there anyway to reset or synch these up so I have at least one working unit?

Dave,
Try to register each handset one by one until one works. You can also try the Pager Call feature. You won't need to connect the phone to a system to do this test. Their also may be a serial number inside the base and handset.

Now I've got the same situation - two different serial numbers. Wanderers don't manually register to a base like an Engenius. I guess our only choice is to send the two mismatched items to Aztec and see if they will do it. I don't really want to spend that much though. Is there any chance anyone here knows of a way to do this ourselves?

I didn't realize it had serial numbers. Or maybe I forgot. It was so long ago I worked with a Wanderer. Did you try mating sequence?
Simultaneously press and hold the [PAGER CALL] button on the charging base and the [FLASH] button on the handset for ten seconds … or until “REGISTER†appears on the display. (The unit will beep once to indicate registration is complete.)
Tip and ring, the work of the devil!

Wow! I guess one can never be too old to learn something! It worked like a charm. Thanks!!! However, I feel a little sheepish now. Upon review, I realized that I had been looking in my 9017 user guide instead of my 9018 user guide where those instructions were clearly listed. Anyway, its good to be kept humble from time to time.

There is a differen process for the 900 Mhz handsets. Which involves turning the power off on the handset put on desk take big hammer..... wait that's not the correct way. Actually with the power off hold down the 3,6,9 keys while turning the power on. Once it comes on in the test mode dial 3 and enter the serial number from the bottom of the base unit. press hold and do a power cycle. Should be good to go or as good as the 900 Mhz can get!!!!!
