We have the Vodavi Starplus STS 3515-71 phones. There was a power surge/failure earlier today and since then we cannot access voicemail and callers cannot leave messages. If we dial in to the voicemail (using a programmed button or dialing 440) it just keeps ringing. When someone calls and we transfer them to another line, normally it will ring for 3 rings and then go to voicemail. Now when you transfer the line stays on indefinitely until the caller hangs up.
The only troubleshooting I've tried which has helped in the past with other problems is unplugging a station to reset it (tried at various stations including the attendant). Unfortunately I don't know how our voicemail is set up or what we use. Their is a big vodavi box in our server room with lots of computer type cards in it (one does look kind of like a small hard drive).
We are a medical office and voicemail is a crucial function, so a quick reply would be very helpful! I will do my best to get any additional info, just let me know what you need.

It sounds like your KSU has lost the memory. The CO lines to to be forward to 440. From the comments you stated you need a Vodavi Tech from the from the top of this page.

If the KSU (whatever that is) has lost its memory, does that mean we have to re-setup our voicemail or something like that? If so, I'll need help learning how to do that because I have been unable to locate anything relating to that in our user guide.

As stated what you need is beyond the user guide. Sounds like you need a new memory battery installed and complete reprogramming. Go to installers at the top of the page to see if there is one in your area. You can also post in "Request and Installer". If this is as critical as you say I'd do both now.

I think you would notice a lot of other problems if the phone system mem battery had failed. I suggest you just open the box and reset the voice mail. There is a reset button on the card.

I found a card with a button, pressed it, nothing changed as far as VM goes. Do I need to hold it down for any length of time or anything else? What is supposed to happen when you reset the voicemail?

I suggest, that if this is a harddrive inskin voice mail that you connect a monitor to the vga port and take a look at what is on the screen. Reseting the voice mail is just like restting a pc. By the way the first voice mail extension is 150. That should still get an answer even when group 440 is not programmed.

Thanks for the help everyone. When I returned to the office this morning everything was working fine. Our dealer finally came out, apparently we didn't have the phone system on a battery backup which would have kept it from being affected by the power outage. Good to know about the vga port, though, thanks!
