My Father is a Network/Computer repair/PC Forenzics consultant. one of his customers has a Phone System, that apparently does not support Caller ID. The digits he gave me are these:

Key System
Atlas (maybe a US Atlas 56?)
KBX-500
I believe Intech was just the installing company name, but it is on the phones.
They have about 8 to 10 phones.

Here are the Questions:

-Is there any way to log caller ID so that the owneer of that company, a Lawyer, can look at it to see where his calls are coming from?

-and by which of his numbers they are coming in?

Any help or advice with this system would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

The Atlas 56 is Call-ID compatible I would suggest getting a manual if you need to work on this.

I can't work on this system due to a noncompete. My Father will be doing the work, I just wanted to see if I could gather some info. Is there another Model that doesn't have caller ID?

SMDR will not show caller ID if the phone system doesnt support it. The first thing to check would be if the firm is actually getting caller ID from the carrier. If they are using regular loop start line or Ground start lines then I would test to see if Caller ID is coming thru. Sometimes even if the system doesnt support Caller ID the customer actually may be paying for it. I would suggest going and looking at it. I know you are worried about Non Compete but if you are just going to see what they have there is no harm in that. I think getting a manual is so obvious, it should not have been stated above. I am sure someone that has been in this business for just a day or two would know that.

Can't you just talk to the central office and get your call records from there? They should be able to give you info about when and where your calls are coming from. I don't use caller ID in our office but have gotten those records from them before.

Yeah, I guess I can't get in any trouble for free advice.

Thanks for the replies.
